Our Vision

Together, we treat preventable blindness worldwide. Our mission is to create an environment where everyone has the knowledge and tools to prevent blindness for themselves and an opportunity for every person with treatable blindness to seek a health professional. Eyes for the World is working to empower each community by building sustainable and locally-led vision programs in every developing country we visit. Helping the world see, one expedition at a time.

Working together to spread clear vision to those who need it the most.

Our Story

In 2001, optometrists Dr. Jessy Manhas and Dr. Diane Spada began volunteering their skills, expertise, and time on medical missions throughout Central America. During one of their many missions to Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador, their passion for improving vision and eye health to those in need inspired them to start their own charity. In 2016, their vision became a reality as Eyes for the World  came to life. The Eyes for the World team now includes Dr Dharminder Dhanda as their medical director, Dr. Jason Lau as an optometric director, George Piprah as the liaison for Ghana, and Don Wolfe as the liaison for Jamaica.

Eyes for the World has travelled to El Salvador, Jamaica, and India. Our trip to Ghana in 2020 was, unfortunately, cancelled due to COVID. But we hope to be able to donate in another capacity in the near future. Our team for each mission varies greatly and we welcome volunteers to join our core group of doctors and work closely with local volunteers in each country.
